Old School Cool

Photographed by: Jit Wei

It's that time of the year again when mornings are scorching hot, afternoons are cloudy and humid, and nightfall is welcomed by torrential rain. Very rarely do we get to enjoy clear skies and the cool breeze during the monsoon months, but thankfully today was one of them. Jit Wei and I decided to have Thai food for dinner at Golden Mile Complex, because where else can you get the most authentic Thai nosh right? Afterwards, we caught "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" at the Projector.  The movie is a comedy-drama about a boy and his foster father becoming targets of a police manhunt after escaping to the New Zealand wilderness. This movie was so heartfelt and funny in the best way imaginable. I highly recommend you take a few hours off your day to watch it!

Anyway, since we were at such an old-school place, it was only befitting to let my outfit rise to the occasion. While my t-shirt screams the eighties, the leather skirt does so in a more subtle fashion. This pairing was perfect since leather was all the rage in that era. Strangely enough, the straw clutch bag was my mother's from - you guessed it - the eighties as well! I absolutely adore all the looks from the later half of the 20th century. I'm trying to incorporate more of those looks into my everyday outfits; honestly, the aesthetics are to die for. Feel free to share with me how you combine retro styles into your daily outfits too!
