Until recently, I juggled uni and extracurricular activities with a part-time job. Having extra allowance in my pocket was definitely a luxury that not many can afford in college life. So when I stopped working, I had to be careful with my finances, and that meant less shopping for clothes. To ease the burden on my wallet, I usually spend on basics that are easy to mix and match - take a few pieces and make many outfits outta them!
So, when I found this black and beige printed dress at the back of my closet, I got a little ecstatic because finally, I had something different to wear. This dress had actually been sitting at the bottom of the pile for years now, literally. I'm grateful that it wasn't one of those fashion choices that make you look back a few years later and go "Ugh! What was I thinking?" As usual, I didn't want to dress it up too much because 1) it was sweltering hot, and 2) I was gonna spend most of my day studying in school so I didn't want my outfit to be a hassle. I matched this dress with dainty, simple gold jewellery, a pair of versatile lace-up sandals, and finished it off with a low loose bun for that effortless chic.
Sometimes, having your school be a city campus isn't half bad. I end up travelling a little more, but I get to explore all the colonial buildings that surround my school. We shot this on a hot humid afternoon at the ever-regal Raffles Hotel. Entering the hotel lobby is akin to travelling back in time, back to when Singapore was still a British colony. Walking through the corridors, anyone would definitely marvel at the grand chandeliers and the oh-so-timeless marble stairs that were home to the 19th century. Heck, you'd probably hear Sir Stamford Raffles talking. I kid.
