A Moment in Time

Early in December, my sister and I decided to explore the estate we reside in, film camera in hand. It wasn't so much a conceptual shoot as it was a bid to finish my roll of film. Our outfits were a coincidental black and white, but I think it encapsulates very well our personalities. My sister's an architect; she's almost always in the standard architect uniform of full black. And me, I'm sure you guys know how much I love wearing white! I hope you enjoy this set of visuals. It was done with no planning whatsoever - literally point-and-shoot. Very spontaneous, and stress-free indeed.

There's something about film that creates a sense of enigma. I guess it comes down to the gritty quality of it. When coupled with good lighting, however, it creates the best results. I adore how these unplanned shots turned out to be slightly mysterious and closed-off in expression too. For a few weeks I pondered on how best to collate the pictures into a thematic post, then I happened to read a movie-still inspired blog entry by one of my favourite bloggers. So I picked a few befitting quotes from movies I love (brownie points to you if you can guess them!). I randomised the order of the photos, but upon review, the words seem to form a sort of story about time and worldly boundaries. In juxtaposition, the film pictures captured a split-second, which on print would be preserved forever.
